Xiaomi is India’s largest selling smartphone brand beating Samsung over the past few years. Xiaomi has maintained its lead with 30.3 percent market share, with Samsung at second place with a 25.1 percent share whereas OPPO and VIVO are at fourth and fifth position respectively (According to “The Economic Times” published on May 14, 2018).
After the huge success of Redmi Note 4 now Redmi Note5 Pro is grabbing the Indian market to a large extent.
So, I decided to take a small trip with Redmi Note5 Pro and check whether is it really worth buying or not?
So let’s get started…
The day started at 7 in the morning. I completed all of my morning routines and headed to college at 9:30. I reached somewhat earlier and thought to why not take a detailed analysis of Redmi Note5 Pro?
Redmi Note5 Pro Review
1. Outer Body
First of all, the phone is 8 mm slim and weighs 181 grams only. It comes in four exciting colors i.e., Black, Gold, Lake Blue, and Rose Gold.
Here are some pictures of the outer body…
The edges were curved so it was comfortable at the corners. The phone was a bit slippery in the hands but you can tackle this using a soft rubber back cover.
2. Camera Test
After going with the outer looks I started with its Camera. Since Xiaomi has now started giving its smartphones the most desirable feature i.e., “Dual Cameras” I decided to switch to the “Portrait” mode quickly. The phone is packed with Two 12 Megapixels Rear and a One 20 Megapixel Front Camera for selfie lovers. You will get an LED Flash with both front and back cameras. The clicked picture looked absolutely good in quality and the edge details were good. Here is the sample…
As you can see the edge detailings are fine enough. After all, what more you expect from a phone which is priced at less than 17000 Indian Rupees For a 6 GB/64GB Variant.
I compared the picture qualities between Redmi Note5 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S9+. The S9+ performed well in picture clarity but lagged a bit in edge detailing. On the other hand, the Note5 Pro performed well in the edge detailing but lagged picture clarity.
3. The Front Camera
The Front Camera of the phone worked good enough. Moreover, despite being a single camera you can also take selfies in portrait mode. Here is the sample…
I was a bit disappointed when I clicked some pictures in the low light. The phone didn’t perform that bad but Mi A1 had somewhat an edge over when it comes to performance under low light conditions.

The factory Android version of the smartphone will be 7.1.2 i.e., Noughat. However, you can update it to the latest version 8.1.0 i.e., Oreo.
It has got 5.99″ FHD Capacitive Touchscreen display and a screen resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels which looks damn sharp. The screen performed well in direct sunlight.
As far as the battery is concerned it has got a Li-Polymer 4000 mAh battery which is pretty good though this smartphone runs on a 1.8GHz octa-core processor and Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset.
I downloaded high-end games like PUBG and Asphalt 8 Airborne from Google Play Store to test its performance and tried some good hands over a decent period of time. But surprisingly, the phone didn’t heat up and worked really fine without a single lag (I was using the 4 GB variant) and I was really impressed because this time Xiaomi has tackled its smartphone’s heating problem well enough.
You can also expand its internal memory up to 128 GB via a micro SD Card. Yes, you read that right! 128 GB. So, no worry about the storage issue, right?
5. The Feature That I Liked The Most…
The phone is capable of letting you use the Hotspot and the Wi-Fi at the same moment of time and by that what you can do is you can connect your Note5 Pro with a Wi-Fi and can share the Host’s Internet data with your friends. As far as I know, no other smartphone possesses this feature. (If you know, please do let me know in the comment section).
Here is the proof…
The phone has a 3.5 mm audio jack and not a Type-C port. The Type-C may be included in the upcoming Xiaomi’s Mi A2.
