Make Your Black and White Photo Colored Automatically

Turning a Black and White photo colored is a tedious task. Popular photo editing apps like PicsArt, Snapseed, Pixlr only allows the editor to add different effects or filters to a photograph.

The only way to colorize a photo using such apps is by brushing the different parts with suitable colors. But brushing is a tough job to do. Zooming in, Zooming out, selecting colors, precision, changing brush size is the primary need to do it manually. They all have to be combined properly and accurately to make a perfect colored photo.

ALGORITHMIA is a popular web app that uses deep learning to automatically colorize a photograph. Algorithmia uses a colorful image colorization algorithm to perform the colorization task. This algorithm uses deep learning to identify objects or regions within the image and colorize them accordingly.

You can either paste the URL of the image or upload it directly from the internal storage of your device.

The Overall Experience

The colorization seemed nice. If you are a Photoshop master and has colorized photos before using your Photoshop skills then this may disappoint you.

The sample photos as provided by the developers performed well. But some custom images have somewhat an average experience. The software is mostly filling the “Sepia” effect in the photos.

Overall, it was not bad. The computer vision algorithm took hardly 20 seconds to show us the result. Manually, it is a time consuming job.

The Web App Need Some More Future Updates

The software needs to be developed a bit more to get a user-friendly experience. The object identification and clarification need to be improved. Overall it was great.
